Hello~<br />

<br />
I've heard about them a few months ago, but I couldn't order mine because they didn't ship to Puerto Rico. But then, a few weeks ago they emailed me with the announcement that they now ship to my lil' Island. I got so excited that I ordered them the first chance I got.<br />
<br />
If you haven't heard of them, they are basically a company that makes personalized haircare depending on your hair type, goals, and preferences using an algorithm system to select the best ingredients for you. They are cruelty-free and they don't use sulfates nor parabens. Also, they offer free shipping and free returns, plus they deliver super fast. Mine arrived 2 days after shipping.<br />
<br />
When you are going to order from them, you first have to take a quiz telling them about your hair and what you want to achieve. The quiz is divided in 4 parts: hair and scalp info, hair goals, formula customization, and bottle sizes. My choices were the following:<br />
<br />

On the left, is my hair from ten years ago before I put it through all the damage. It was so thick and curly. On the right, is my current hair situation. My hair is now a bit thinner and more prone to breakage than before. The pink ends are part of the chemical processed hair I have left, that's why they don't curl as much.</td></tr>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I was born with curls and I always used to struggled to style and care for them, that's why in my high school years I started getting chemical processing treatments and applying heat to straighten it. My hair started to lose its curls and the ends were fried from so much damaged. Flash-forward to my university years, I started getting my hair bleached and coloring parts of it. I stopped getting it straighten because after the bleach my ends got really bad. Finally, I decided to transition again to my natural curly hair. My roots have grown a lot since then, but I still have parts of my hair that were previously damaged from all the treatments and heat. I know some people cut all the damaged ends in one snip, but I don't like having short hair that's why I've been cutting it slowly. During this transition period I have used Shea Moisture and Just Nutritive hair products. They have been a good option, but I still have a few issues. After all the chemical treatments I put my hair through my scalp hasn't been the same. One of the times I straighten my hair with chemicals, my scalp got burned and I had to apply Neosporin to the burned spots to get it to heal faster. It was a really bad experience. After all that damage, my scalp gets itchy when I sweat and I can't stay more than 2 days without washing my hair because of the itch. So, even though I bought a Just Nutritive shampoo to calm my scalp it didn't do much notable difference. Those products did help on the overall look of my hair, they detangled it really well and they gave it some moisture. But my hair goals right now are to relieve my itchy scalp, get more moisture, make my hair grow faster, longer and stronger. That's what I'm looking for on the Function of beauty products. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The products:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7SWehyphenhyphenZ0tYDanyg2Pc0qLF0fQq_MihWcch9LOcOvPiPLWP4mMRzTTBkPKXfF41WCaoxut8LcU1u8a3wklTKWHA7L2NrsM6TS_1OuD2WigYLsagkDqAPAsGDGIsJRyzybD5y5D0JU340g/s1600/20170915_170526.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="900" data-original-width="1600" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7SWehyphenhyphenZ0tYDanyg2Pc0qLF0fQq_MihWcch9LOcOvPiPLWP4mMRzTTBkPKXfF41WCaoxut8LcU1u8a3wklTKWHA7L2NrsM6TS_1OuD2WigYLsagkDqAPAsGDGIsJRyzybD5y5D0JU340g/s400/20170915_170526.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="color: #000120;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They arrived in a pretty teal colored box with the Function -- of tatiana label outside, which I thought was nice. Inside, I got a pink shampoo and a teal colored conditioner with their pumps, and a small booklet with the options I picked in the quiz, personalized regime, hair goals described and the complete list of ingredients in both products.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The shampoo viscosity is neither watery nor creamy. To me, it's like the texture of hand soap or any Shea Moisture shampoo. The conditioner is creamy like lotion, which surprised me since I read some reviews where people said their conditioner felt watery and less like cream, I guess it might be this particular formula.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The smell is a fresh light mint in both of them. I thought the smell was going to be stronger since I picked medium strength. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The personalized regimen they recommended is washing my hair with both shampoo and conditioner 4 to 5 times a week. I think I wash my hair around 3 to 4 times a week, which I guess is not much different. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I don't know why I was surprised to see that the bottles were so small when I ordered the 8oz ones. I guess it must be the packaging because I once ordered another shampoo/conditioner set from another company that were the same size, but the bottles were longer. Even thought that set was a small size they lasted me a long time. I hope that is the same for the Function of beauty ones since they are $18 each ($2.25 per oz).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I will be using them for two weeks before giving my usage review. Meanwhile, if you are interested of trying it yourself and don't want to wait until I use it, you can buy your first shampoo and conditioner set with a $5 discount using my referral link: <u><a href="https://functionofbeauty.com/?ref=582e4e3e1044e" target="_blank">Lissome Flower Function of Beauty $5 discount</a>.</u> Keep in mind that this referral link only works for the first 5 people that use it. </div>

<br />
a boy named Harry Potter introduced a little girl to the wonderful world of reading. <br />
<br />
That little girl was me. Sure I used to read in school but I saw it as homework, it wasn't because I chose to read it. I never thought I would come to love reading as much as I do now. <br />
<br />
My love for reading started because of Harry Potter. One day, I was at Walgreens with my dad and we were browsing the magazine and books aisle when my dad pointed out a Spanish version of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone and said that he had read in the news that it was a very popular book. I picked it up, read the excerpt, and it caught my attention. He bought it for my sister and me. I had to wait until my sister finished reading it. My turn came and I was instantly hooked on the first chapter. I used to go to sleep really late because I couldn't stop reading. I wanted to know what happened next. I was amazed how someone had the imagination to create a world filled with magic. I discovered that I could imagine the things happening in my head as I read, like it was a movie. I saw it as clear as day. I haven't experienced this before because the stories we read in school were very short and it was read in parts by classmates, which caused me to space out sometimes since I didn't hear them or understood them. <br />
<br />
I read the first 3 books in Spanish, but then I decided to switch to English since I understood it better. My native language is Spanish, but when it comes to reading in Spanish they sometimes tend to have some words I don't necessarily know what they mean and sometimes translations may not be 100% accurate. So, since then I have preferred to read in English. Like 97% of my book collection are in English. Recently I've been trying to incorporate some local and Latin American authors. I have found a Puertorrican author that I really enjoy reading his books. He's name is J.D. Estrada. I have two books of his: Twenty Veinte and Daydreams on the Sherbet Shore. The first one is a collection of essays, poems and short stories in Spanish and English. There are some funny ones in there. The second one is a short novel about a world created in a dream. It is simply magical; one of those books that you read and you feel like there's no evil in the world.<br />
<br />
When Borders opened stores in Puerto Rico, it was love at first sight. I used to love to buy books there. I would spend hours looking at what was new. I was up to date on what was popular or what was published recently. My sister and I used to attend midnight release parties for books. We went to 2 or 3 of them. I remember we went to a Harry Potter and then a Twilight one. Borders also had a magnificent rewards club, we used to receive like $10 coupon on our birthdays and we also accumulated points to receive more discounts. I always bought more than one book. I used to stack books I found interesting in my hands and when I had finishing browsing the entire store I started choosing which one I would keep or leave. Sadly, Borders closed all their stores and it was heartbreaking. I bought a tall bookcase from them when they were selling all their stores furniture. It has 7 shelves and it is almost full. I also have another bookcase, slightly a bit smaller, that I bought a few years ago but it is almost full too.<br />
<br />
I have acquired books buying them in stores or online, as gifts, or free from universities and fairs. When Borders closed, I started buying online because there really wasn't any bookstores that sold books in English that could interest me. The few bookstores that did, sold the books a bit pricey. I wanted to find a way to buy books at great discounts like I did in Borders. That's when I found Thriftbooks. Thriftbooks is an online bookstore that specializes in selling second hand books, but they also sell new ones. They have everything from really old books to new releases. They have a rewards program where you get $5 for every $50 you spend, and believe me you spend $50 fast. Free shipping is also included, which is a big plus. At first I was skeptical because I thought that if they were used maybe some weren't in the best condition. I watched some YouTube videos about book hauls from real customers and I didn't hear any complaints. I was convinced and decided to buy a few books. It was legit! The prices are awesome. I have bought books in really good conditions for $3. They give you the choice on what conditions you would like to buy the book: Acceptable, Good, Really Good, and New. You get the best of both worlds: good books at an economic price and you also recycle, preventing all those books from going to landfills. Though I do not recommend choosing ones that say they come from libraries because they sometimes stick a clear plastic on all the outside of the book and after you peel it off it stays a bit sticky. <br />
<br />
Check them out for yourselves. You get 15% off your first order using this link: <a href="https://www.thriftbooks.com/share/?code=NSTdQMzYOoqqDfKhOsgNZg%253d%253d" target="_blank">Thriftbooks</a><br />
<br />
How many books have you read? What started your reading journey? Let me know in the comments.<br />
<br />
Hasta Luego!<br />

I have been a mom of a cat for almost 5 years. He's my absolute treasure, I adore him. His mom was a stray cat that we had been feeding for a few days. We were suspicious she was pregnant because she was all warm and cuddly with us. Turns out we were right, because a few days later she came home with two little kittens. We fed them and they stayed close to home. Sadly, one Valentine's Day night we arrived home and one of the neighbors had run over one of the little kittens. I took him in my arms and cried like you can't imagine. He was still warm but it was too late, we couldn't save him. We buried him in our backyard with a little red ribbon bow tie. Since that night we were worried for the safety of the other kitten and his mom, so we decided to take them inside. Since that day the surviving little kitten has made my room his home. I named him Mota because he looked like a little white fuzz ball when he was little. He has always been the cuddly one out of the two kittens. He loves attention and when he was little he loved playing with people. He has this weird thing he does that he looks into your eyes like he's seeing your soul. Every time people talk badly about cat's behavior I tell them that they haven't met my cat. He has never been aggressive towards anyone, he's the sweetest cat.<br />

A catio is basically an enclosed outdoor space for cats. It was made for cats to enjoy the outdoors without any of the dangers they can be exposed to if they are loose. It makes me sad that he has to be all the time inside my room, so I want him to enjoy some time outside. He loves staring out my window and gets excited when he sees a bird. I hope he learns to enjoy the space. I won't leave him out 24/7 because he is accustomed to sleeping with me, so at night I will bring him inside. </div>

P.S. Adopt animals instead of buying, there are too many animals on the street in need of a loving family. Search your local pet shelter and I promise you that at least one animal will take hold of your heart. Even though you have a perfect image of what animal you want, you may end up falling in love with another one. </div>

Has there been a lot of rain and sunshine since I last posted. A lot of things have changed. I'm officially in the most difficult part of life: the what-do-I-do-after-college life. Last month I graduated with a bachelor's degree in chemistry. I know it is recent but I'm already feeling the pressure of finding a job. It makes me anxious every time I search online for job opportunities because I can't seem to find anything. Either everything is too damn far or they ask for 5 or so years of experience. I know I can't be too picky when choosing a job because otherwise I won't find anything, but I'm hoping for that "slightly perfect" job to appear. Regardless of the job I may get it will be temporary because honestly I don't see myself working on a pharmaceutical the rest of my life. Working in the pharmaceutical industry is basically the most job opportunities I have here. The interesting jobs like working in the cosmetics or food industries are so rare to find.<br />
<br />
Another thing that I don't like about this whole recently-graduated-stage is that the question everyone always asks when they know I'm fresh out of college is "What are your plans? Are you going for the master's degree?". I never know what to answer to this. I would love to get a master's degree but there's nothing available in the area (island overall) that interests me, and I won't get a master's of something I don't particularly love. Later on, I plan on traveling to get another degree, but for now that's on stand by. The only answer I tell people when they make me those questions is: "I'm going to look for work". But the look on their faces makes me think that I'm disappointing them because I'm not getting another degree. I guess they think I'm selling myself short.<br />
<br />
The dreams I have require a lot of work and time. Additionally, I know that this will have a lot of trials and errors, but I'm willing to work through it. It may not be the usual road every college graduate takes but I'm making my own path. I hope it works out. Crossing my fingers I can find a job so I can start working closer to my dream.<br />

Happy 2014 to all my readers out there, may this year bring you good things.<br />
<br />
It's 4:38 am right now and I just couldn't sleep. There's something that's been bothering me for awhile. First of all, I consider myself open minded, but no matter how I twist and turn around this I can't seem to find a way to accept it. I know a lot of people would disagree with me on this and will tell me that times have changed but still it isn't enough.<br />
<br />
So here is the thing, lately I've been seeing an outbreak on young girls getting pregnant unplanned. Is not even funny anymore that when someone is going to tell me something about somebody I automatically think that she's pregnant. I know it's not my business if they get pregnant, but bare with me and just hear me out. The thing that saddens me is that the old tradition of marriages is fading. Couples are getting pregnant before making their vows. Now hold your thought right there, there is no excuse that having a wedding is expensive because there are ways to make a cheap and beautiful wedding; like: lots of d.i.y, having a small wedding with only the most important people, not spending so much on a dress you are going to use just one night, etc. Babies don't come cheap either. Do you know how expensive diapers can be and considering a baby uses like 4 or more diapers a day approximately? Anyways, for me, marriage means getting to live together, the thrill and scary experience of spending that first night together consuming their love for each other, creating a family and making that promise to stay with each other until death. I mean, how beautiful is that? It saddens me because young people are led by their sexual desires or group pressure. I don't believe the typical story of every girl that's only been in a relationship for a month and already says that he's the love of her life and blah blah. Don't get me wrong, I love my boyfriend with all my heart, but I still don't know if we are going to be together forever. A lot of things can happen in a relationship. You have to be realistic.<br />
<br />
So what's the meaning of getting married if you are already pregnant and have lived together? In the end, after you take away all the special meaning it is left with only a "party" and parties can be done anytime.<br />
I'm guessing that sex becomes kind of an addiction because they say that the first month or so of marriage is like being bunnies. So why try one time just to "experiment" if you just can hold yourself for the wedding night? It's easier. It's like drugs, once you've tried it once, you are hooked; or so I've been told. I mean, come on, we are human not animals that can't control themselves. I've heard of the saying "you have to test the waters before jumping in" (I think it's something like that) and I think it's bullshit, because at the end of the day you stay with a person because you love them not because of their "sexual abilities". You can find sex anywhere, but you can't find love that easy.<br />
<br />
And ladies, if your boyfriend is pressuring you to have sex with you 99.8% of the time he isn't going to stay in the long run with you. Like we puertorricans say: "solo quiere un canto", that translates to "he just wants a piece of you" and once he got what he wanted he can leave.We women have to learn to respect ourselves so men can respect us. If you want to save yourself for marriage, it's nothing to be ashamed of and you should be proud to be a virgin. It's not a competition or a price, it's your body and you are the only one that makes the decisions. There are more important things than sex. To me, is just not worth it having sex out of marriage when a lot of things can go wrong. And if for some reason your hormones are driving you crazy and you desire to have sex but still wish to save yourself for marriage, avoid being completely alone with him and/or stop yourself, take a step back and say "no". Your hormones will eventually calm down and you can go on with life.<br />
<br />
I don't hate kids or anything, I actually like them and in a future would like to have at least two. The things that I want to get across are:<br />
1. Respect: we should respect ourselves by not giving something so precious as our body to someone that you don't know if they would be with you forever<br />
2. Well-being of the baby: ensuring that the baby will have a good life and stable home<br />
I mention the second one because I've seen so many news, programs, and in my surroundings, kids that should be having a better life but aren't because their parents weren't ready to have a baby.<br />
<br />
Babies are something that should be planned ahead, because you need to make sure that you can provide them with all the things they need: stable home, love, care, medical, food, clothes, bed, etc. It's a big decision. One of the big things that a couple should analyze is if they are mature enough to raise a child, because when the parents still need some growing up to do and the baby isn't raised right, when he/she gets older he/she will cause problems. It should be parents raising kids not kids raising kids.<br />
<br />
I'm getting sleepy and maybe that means I cleared out my head with all of this. I just kinda felt a need to share to the world and see if someone will agree with me on this.<br />
<br />
I want to leave a link here on cheap beautiful wedding ideas, if you guys want to check it out -> <a href="http://www.intimateweddings.com/" target="_blank">Intimate Weddings</a><br />
<br />
I want to hear your comments or perspective on marriage, maybe you guys will make me understand this phenomenon better. Don't know, I always think that with communication we can solve things.<br />
<br />
On that note, I'm off to sleep. Goodnight readers!Tatianahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11248442836289136141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1030485021313860573.post-30790909523224524662012-09-15T18:20:00.000-04:002017-09-15T18:21:12.220-04:00Tutorial: Hair fabric scrunchies<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
This year I have set myself a goal to grow waist-long hair. I'm doing everything to prevent my hair from breaking so it will grow fast. I've been reading and looking for tips to take care of my hair and one of the things I found was that elastic hair ties can break your hair when you take them out. And that were the only hair ties I had. So, I went to 2 or 3 stores looking for soft fabric scrunchies (this are the best ones to prevent hair from breaking) and I either found them too expensive or ugly. So, I looked for tutorials on the internet and found various ones. And I made one. Here is how.<br />
<br />
Materials:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>2 strips of fabric 56cm x 5cm</li>
<li>1 elastic 22cm long</li>
<li>Sewing machine</li>
<li>Pins</li>
<li>Fabric scissor</li>
</ul>
<div>
Directions:</div>
<div>
<ol>
<li>Measure and cut two strip of fabric (56cm x 5cm)</li>
<li>Place the right sides together and sew one side. Pin it so it won't move when sewing.</li>
<li>Now that one side is sewn, fold the two end seams in about 1cm and pin them.</li>
<li>Place the right sides together again and sew the other side.</li>
<li>Turn the tube, right side out. Careful, you don't want to break the stitches. Just take your time. </li>
<li>Take the elastic, pin it on one end and pass it inside the tube to the other end.</li>
<li>Take the two ends of the elastic and make a knot. Make sure you make it very tight, you don't want the elastic to loosen when your using the scrunchy. </li>
<li>Close the tube by placing one end inside the other end and stitching.</li>
<li>All done, now you have your very own handmade scrunchy.</li>
</ol>
Now, you can make a bunch of scrunchies to fit your mood or your clothes. You can make them out of any fabric you have, even an old sweater just be sure it doesn't measures less than 56cm x 5cm. And best of all you can make them with whatever fabric you like without having to spend to much money. If you have thin or straight hair don't use silky fabrics because the scrunchy will fall right off. Hope this inspires you to make your own scrunchies. :)</div>

I'm still alive and well. I'm spend more time on Tumblr and now that I've started university (yes, I finally started :D) life's kinda hectic. But, I'm finally posting something for you guys and it's another of my creations. Heh! Enjoy, my boring and long explanation.<br />
<br />
I've recently entered into the fandom world of Sherlock and Doctor Who and I absolutely love them. I'm more obsessed with Sherlock since I already finished the series (well, until 2013). With Doctor Who I like it so far, I'm only finishing the first season with the ninth doctor so I haven't seen much I still have a lot more episodes ahead.<br />
<br />
Every time I finish a series or drama I always want to make something handmade to remind me of it. When I finished Sherlock I went searching for something to recreate, but sadly I still haven't found something I absolutely wanted. Because what I really wanted was a plush of Sherlock and Watson, but I'm very bad at making plushies, maybe sometime in the future I'll get better at it.<br />
<br />
Anyway, moving forward...<br />
<br />
Last night I got the idea to recreate the Doctor Who tardis. And tadda!, it turned out better than I expected it. <br />

<span style="text-align: left;">*The lantern glows very faintly. I wanted to capture it in a photo but the light is so faint that it wasn't visible. So, I just placed it beneath a desk lantern to create the effect of glowing.</span></div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
"How I made it": </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used materials I had already in my home, I didn't go out to buy anything. The main material is the mini Popsicle sticks that is basically what the box is made of. I measured and cut the round edge of the Popsicle sticks. I ended up getting air bubbles in my fingers because I used a wire cutter for this, yeah I know it was stupid of me, but I didn't have a wood cutter or something similar. For support, inside of the box, I used the cardboard that comes inside a toilet paper roll. Cut it in rectangular strips and glue them to the walls. I used contact cement to glue it all, but I think it's best if you use wood glue. To avoid the gap between each Popsicle stick from being visible, using liquid gesso, I glued a sheet of toilet paper on top of each wall, floor and ceiling. To do this, just paint a layer of liquid gesso on the Popsicle wall and while it's still wet stick the toilet paper sheet on top (carefully to avoid wrinkles) and on top of the toilet paper paint another layer of liquid gesso. For the lantern on top, I found a little tube that comes with nail art paintbrushes, those very fine paintbrushes to paint works of art on nails, well those specific kind of brushes come with a small plastic cylinder that is used to protect the brush to avoid it from getting damaged. I cut it to the height I wanted it. Using polymer clay, I made the bottom and the top of the lantern. For inside the lantern, I had that plastic string, that girls use to make bracelets, in glow-in-the-dark. I cut it in little itty bitty pieces and filled the plastic cylinder with it. For the coil around the cylinder, I just cut and twisted a bobby pin. And the paint, I used regular acrylic paint that you can find in any craft store. All the details are hand painted. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

I always think about doing a full tutorial before I'm going to make something handmade, but (1) I end up forgetting or I remember when I'm already through the middle of the process, (2) I think, what if it doesn't turn out like you expect it or it's a complete failure? or (3) It's more time consuming taking photos while working. So, in conclusion I never end up doing a tutorial but someday I hope I can make one for you guys. Be it a video or s step-by-step photo tutorial. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
That is all for this post. Hope you guys enjoyed it and got inspired to create something with materials found around the house. </div>

Opening a new book and hearing the sound of the pages turning. The smell of a new book. Being sucked into a new world. Wasting hours just reading. The feel of the pages against my fingers. Crying and laughing with the characters of the story. Learning magic, survival skills, and exploring new places. Yelling and getting anxious in the right parts. Meeting new friends. Having the most wondrous of adventures. I miss buying a whole stack of books and being anxious to read them all. Staying up late into the night just because I can’t bring myself to close the book. I just miss holding a book with a new adventure waiting for me inside.</span>Tatianahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11248442836289136141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1030485021313860573.post-40097267030666668902012-03-23T21:48:00.004-04:002017-07-05T01:05:50.360-04:00The Hunger Games!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had read The Hunger Games trilogy long before they announced they where making it into a movie, so of course I was super excited when I found out a movie adaptation was on the way. Whenever they adapt movies from books me and my sister have read (we are book geeks), we go and see the movie the same day it premieres. In our case, Thursdays. One of the plus Puerto Rico has is that movie premieres are on Thursdays instead of Friday. But the only downfall is that some movies that are not highly anticipated don't come to PR or it comes out 2 or 3 weeks after. Yesterday was finally the day we would be able to see one of our favorite books come to life. We bought the tickets the day before, just because we have had experiences were they are sold out the same day. I went with my Katniss braid, because I wanted to have something that represented the movie or books in a way.</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVeo3A2lYd2leIP7_vYvwMc7E2L3YNkfSwHaABg3MpaIK7zTqNC285VsgZ1MYKbjih6kSh4eNxqvdA27mLq4p9ouE7YRZhhF8lqxxEeilF636quvUt3TvibmLYCc0tfaFtqKYSSfvtQYU/s1600/THG.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="281" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgVeo3A2lYd2leIP7_vYvwMc7E2L3YNkfSwHaABg3MpaIK7zTqNC285VsgZ1MYKbjih6kSh4eNxqvdA27mLq4p9ouE7YRZhhF8lqxxEeilF636quvUt3TvibmLYCc0tfaFtqKYSSfvtQYU/s400/THG.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">My outfit for that day and of course my Katniss braid.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
When we got to the cinema I expected it to be a line waiting to go inside, but I found nothing compared to that. In reality, there was no line to go in. There where only a group of little kids in line to see The Lorax. But, no Hunger Games fans in site. Oh well! *sigh* :( We took our seats in the nearly empty cinema room. Gladly a group of fans sat behind us. Yay! One of the girls had also the Katniss braid and others had the mocking jay pin. Finally some awesome peeps! The movie started at 1:55pm, but because of all the commercials and trailers it ended up starting at about 2:30pm. I was beginning to get anxious. The lights dimmed and it was showtime. The music started playing and all emotions exploded. I couldn't contain myself; I wanted to cry, I wanted to scream and I wanted to jump out of my seat in excitement for what awaited me.<br />
<br />
The movie was beyond my expectations. It was really a true adaptation of the book, even thought the director did some changes and omitted others it wasn't anything mayor or super important. First of all, Josh was so perfect, he absolutely did an amazing job portraying Peeta. He captivated my heart in some ways I didn't thought it was possible. Jennifer was the perfect Katniss, he was the kick-ass girl I would love to see more on movies, the non-girly type, the girl who fights to defend her loved ones no matter the cost. I also love her off screen, she's so random and giddy. Lenny was marvelous as Cinna, he made the character more lovable than he already was and that gold eye shadow, spectacular. Woody was also very good as Haymitch. Elizabeth made Effie shine; her voice and her acting was just so perfect. And her clothes, out of this world. Stanley the perfect Caesar. We's accent and that Seneca's beard was so spectacular. I mean, that beard has it's own Facebook page. It was incredible. All in all the cast was perfect. Except I would have chosen somebody else for the role of Gale, but oh well he doesn't appear that much. <br />
<b><br /></b>
<b>(Spoilers beyond this point!)</b><br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a>I loved how the director decided to explain everything that was happening in the arena and the little movie explaining a somewhat summarized events that led to the annual Hunger Games. I got anxious on the countdown in the part when Katniss was about to go into the platform and into the Hunger Games arena. I was getting all worked up. Rue's death was so beautiful and touching. They way Katniss decorated her with the flowers as she did on the book, when they showed Rue's father and District 11 in chaos and Katniss screaming and crying while cleaning blood out of her knuckles. Of course, there where some stray tears. Peeta's camouflage was so perfectly made, I had to look twice before I saw him. When Peeta throwed that giant weight across the room in the training arena; Oh those muscles!!! The Capitol's fashion was spectacular without being over the top or ridiculous. Peeta doesn't lose his leg like in the book. Hooray for that! I loved Katniss and Peeta's fire themed clothes. The only thing I would have liked is for more romance in the cave scene. Because that's the scene where their relationship begins to grow. Instead of the hugs we wanted more kisses. I hope there are deleted scenes. I also loved the way they showed the districts watching the televised event and when they showed Gale's face in the Katniss and Peeta's scenes. Absolutely loved the movie. I give it two thumbs up! Definitely going to see it again.<br />
<br />
Write your thought on the movie in the comments below. I would like to read them!<br />

<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixqLz1lHRMh0D_eeQzBXXizdre8CQIbIWvzPoaV3Rn9wpZLra4JCVGQe_Sn0SPiQG84GyP6dV7LI-s4eulz-rF-U6BCJvYkWEKIveZNxd746EFK5M-_7Zf33Wx5DoClGCQe24UtIoXu-U/s1600/title2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="140" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixqLz1lHRMh0D_eeQzBXXizdre8CQIbIWvzPoaV3Rn9wpZLra4JCVGQe_Sn0SPiQG84GyP6dV7LI-s4eulz-rF-U6BCJvYkWEKIveZNxd746EFK5M-_7Zf33Wx5DoClGCQe24UtIoXu-U/s400/title2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Whenever I get an urge to eat a peanut butter cup I get my melting chocolate and my crunchy peanut butter out and prepare it. It is super easy to make peanut butter cups in your home. It takes less than 15min. And the ingredients are easy to find. This time, when I made them I kept picturing cinnamon and chocolate together. So, I added a tiny bit of cinnamon on each cup. It tasted actually pretty good.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEja1CJ4uB3ZNdQyNuImlOfiZl59Vsk5ao2mCZHeXbNiMwjg9WIhiwpaYRWrg72SMwB8bBZm3wOcxNk7gWmzadabNevjDxvoXXYdxzMH1dY2ZXREEazfFDRnfqnizGMTi_FhQv1H6AwtapM/s1600/2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEja1CJ4uB3ZNdQyNuImlOfiZl59Vsk5ao2mCZHeXbNiMwjg9WIhiwpaYRWrg72SMwB8bBZm3wOcxNk7gWmzadabNevjDxvoXXYdxzMH1dY2ZXREEazfFDRnfqnizGMTi_FhQv1H6AwtapM/s400/2.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">I suck taking photos!</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
The original peanut butter cups has the peanut butter wrapped in chocolate, but in my version I prefer to have the peanut butter and chocolate mixed together. I like to mix it in because it's less time consuming and I like the even distribution of the ingredients and you taste them both in each bite.<br />
<br />
Because I didn't have enough milk chocolate I had to complete it with white chocolate. There isn't really that much of a difference of taste between the two, but a lot of people prefer milk chocolate over the white (including me). So you tell me, which chocolate is your favorite, milk or white?<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Originally they are more milk chocolate colored but because of the white chocolate <br />they came out more peanut buttery colored.</td></tr>

<b>Cinnamon Peanut Butter Cups</b><br />
<i><br /></i><br />
<i>Ingredients: </i><br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>Melting chocolate (milk, white or whichever you prefer)</li>
<li>Crunchy peanut butter (I used Skippy)</li>
<li>Ground cinnamon</li>
<li>Cupcake pan</li>
<li>Cupcake liners</li>
<li>Spoons</li>
<li>Microwave safe bowl</li>
</ul>
<div>
<i>Directions:</i></div>
<div>
<ol>
<li>Start by melting the chocolate in microwave safe bowl in 10sec intervals. Mix between each 10sec to ensure proper melting.</li>
<li>After you have all your chocolate melted, take big spoonfuls of peanut butter and mix it in the chocolate. I usually mix in a little less peanut butter than chocolate. Mix it until you see the peanuts evenly distributed.</li>
<li>Take your cupcake liners and insert them in your cupcake pan. Pour onto each cupcake liner. You can fill them to the top and have a very big peanut butter or just coat the bottom of the liner to make a thin peanut butter cup. I usually just coat the bottom, I have never filled it to the top. But, me my guest and fill it and see how it turns out; I mean it's chocolate eventually its going to harden and it's not going to taste any different.</li>
<li>Move the pan around so the mixture levels. </li>
<li>Sprinkle a little bit of cinnamon onto each cup. You can always mix it into the mixture before pouring into the liners. </li>
<li>Place on fridge and wait until it hardens. </li>
<li>Enjoy!</li>
</ol>
<div>
<br /></div>
</div>
<div>
Tell me your thoughts I want to hear them. Would you add more cinnamon or do you prefer it without the cinnamon? Would you try and make them? Any questions? Ask me on the comments and I will try and help.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<br />
This tutorial is for creating a wallpaper look on your walls or anywhere you like. I decided to make a tutorial about how I'm painting my walls in case any of you guys are interested or even as crazy as me to take on this time consuming task.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<b>1.</b> The first thing you need to do is have your design, either look for it on the internet or draw it. In my case, I searched for it on the internet. There are many intricate designs available, so if you look for it online make sure the image is good quality so you can see the little designs clearly. Here is the one I chose:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0LiDaTbV4670802uW40bXz3htLvP9UB2rHwPGpnNtCO4_ht9pIn9QCVEM8OJg0o144oEb9ab-17VHG1enqIfkGi5NqDhZ_uG08BwgLao_C0hEsP-1CJwadnuchdGXaj9uFcANH8ok5D0/s1600/stencil2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="269" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg0LiDaTbV4670802uW40bXz3htLvP9UB2rHwPGpnNtCO4_ht9pIn9QCVEM8OJg0o144oEb9ab-17VHG1enqIfkGi5NqDhZ_uG08BwgLao_C0hEsP-1CJwadnuchdGXaj9uFcANH8ok5D0/s320/stencil2.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>2.</b> Now that you have the image of your design, print it. Make sure to print it big enough so you can easily cut the little designs. But also take in account how big you want your stencil.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>3.</b> When you cut of the excess paper, make sure to leave a square around the design. We are going to use that as a guide when stenciling. I left 1cm on the top and bottom, and 1.3cm on each side.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBr9EK76mnsZMEKvZGBkkH2o7q8xDmdgnf9q_O_o0FOpiWncQ_72083P-PadaZ9G8XzIjgmTK3VatZF_VtOcKVFPhs26dWF71PIsGiiCXiYdOAGLORsrIjrSnlo3LfYIBPgKAsfOMZhww/s1600/stencil2sidemeasures.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="269" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhBr9EK76mnsZMEKvZGBkkH2o7q8xDmdgnf9q_O_o0FOpiWncQ_72083P-PadaZ9G8XzIjgmTK3VatZF_VtOcKVFPhs26dWF71PIsGiiCXiYdOAGLORsrIjrSnlo3LfYIBPgKAsfOMZhww/s320/stencil2sidemeasures.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>4.</b> After you have cut it, you should be left with a 11.4cm x 11.6cm square stencil.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizc86uu7wShGuu7tUUn57DDjljpyD-cJAcTHSmqrQ-j6RrdQvhpHa3OI8aydpsTOB1ERoDLvyjuotfRQBg0q2DyrOtKzmv3httuRqIBjFGi2teQi5bHHi9yIufQ6E_jiXK5KNFmsEl9mw/s1600/stencil2cm.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="269" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizc86uu7wShGuu7tUUn57DDjljpyD-cJAcTHSmqrQ-j6RrdQvhpHa3OI8aydpsTOB1ERoDLvyjuotfRQBg0q2DyrOtKzmv3httuRqIBjFGi2teQi5bHHi9yIufQ6E_jiXK5KNFmsEl9mw/s320/stencil2cm.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>5.</b> Now take an exact-o-knife or a very thin scissor and cut out the design. Now decide if you want a stamp stencil or a tracing stencil. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>6. </b>Constructing your stencil:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><b>For the stamp stencil: </b>After you have your pieces cut, take a foamy sheet and trace the designs. Cut them. Take a thick piece of cardboard or a thin piece of wood (11.6cm x 11.4cm) and using your stencil square (now holey) trace the designs with a pencil. You need to do this as a guide to glue the foamy pieces. Now glue the foamy pieces on top of the pencil lines. Make sure to use a very good glue (I used Elmer's Contact Cement) Let dry. F.Y.I. You need to trace and glue them upside down so when you stamp it, it comes out straight. </li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr1_5_kez5Ff-prJDW28G5oMJi5pUTaNVdgTo5jmEp4wRaCZhFOZdXwiN7zaobxCDozM9DATLGlHo3pRWqS3jWPyBFB11_smrE4wxgUlhDlErDpPgN6YmomORaOpXO-qnHDmdPl2O_O1A/s1600/stampstencil.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="279" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr1_5_kez5Ff-prJDW28G5oMJi5pUTaNVdgTo5jmEp4wRaCZhFOZdXwiN7zaobxCDozM9DATLGlHo3pRWqS3jWPyBFB11_smrE4wxgUlhDlErDpPgN6YmomORaOpXO-qnHDmdPl2O_O1A/s320/stampstencil.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<ul>
<li style="text-align: justify;"><b style="text-align: left;">For the tracing stencil: </b><span style="text-align: left;">Print the design on a cardboard paper and cut out the pieces. Now you have a holey stencil. To protect the stencil I wrapped it in contact paper and cut the the contact paper out of the holes. There you have it.</span></li>
</ul>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQPhOTjttUDNW1t5yGl_-q6dId9zFAmtDBQDx4QXaNfLogNJ23duYDAf-yu3CCeCGrmP-quSzK6WL8XNE8RNaqr7WRh-O1dBi6oJFzpUR3QHvY6exbOOvUslsEZ87iFRjYO6sbM1YPNLk/s1600/tracingstencil.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="291" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQPhOTjttUDNW1t5yGl_-q6dId9zFAmtDBQDx4QXaNfLogNJ23duYDAf-yu3CCeCGrmP-quSzK6WL8XNE8RNaqr7WRh-O1dBi6oJFzpUR3QHvY6exbOOvUslsEZ87iFRjYO6sbM1YPNLk/s320/tracingstencil.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>7. Using your stencils: </b></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li><b>Stamp Stencil: </b>Cover the foamy part with paint and stamp away. Make sure not to put the coat of paint too thin or too thick. If it's too thin the design won't come out complete and the paint will dry before you stamp it. If you put it on too thick when you press it, the paint will spread everywhere and you will have a blotch design rather than a clean look.</li>
<li><b>Tracing Stencils: </b>Place it on the surface you will paint and with a pencil (I don't recommend using a pen because if your using a light color paint the pen will show through) trace each design. Take off the stencil and with a thin paintbrush paint each design, one by one. This is the most time consuming of the stencils. I know that you can also paint it with the stencil on, but I don't highly recommend it if you have cement walls, because the walls are not smooth enough and the paint may seep under the stencil. If you have very smooth walls I think it should be fine, just don't pile too much paint on it, or otherwise you'll get a 3D effect.</li>
</ul>
<b>8. Making the wallpaper: </b>I started with the top right corner of my wall. The first and second design are the most crucial, because they will serve as your guide. You can either start with a complete design or a half-design as I did. (To make the corners, top and bottoms: when printing your design, print more than one. Measure it as explained in the steps above; the only difference is that you cut it in half.) Align your stencil with your ceiling and bring it as near as you can to your opposite wall corner. As soon as your sure the stencil it's in its right position, stamp or draw it. You want to make your design below the first, leave a thumb-sized space between the designs and stamp or draw your second design, making also sure that is as close as possible to the opposite wall corner.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>9. </b>Now that you have at least the two crucial designs you are going to make your third design. Align the left edges of your stencil with the right side dots of both your first and second designs. and draw your third design. This is the reason why you need the stencil to be square. In some cases the distance between each design will be a little more spaced out and the edges of your stencil won't fully be align with the dots, if this happens just try to place the stencil in the middle of the two dots. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>10.</b> And that's it, just keep using your stencil edges and the outer dots as a guide. When you finish you will have a beautiful wallpaper design on your wall.</div>

At first, I was using the tracing stencil, but it just took to much time, so now I switch to the stamp stencil. The only difference between the both is that the tracing stencil makes a more clean and beautiful design, whereas the stamp stencil, they don't come out as beautiful and complete as the other one.</div>

I recently finished painting my bed side table. I did the same things as the bookcase. First, I sanded it down, to remove the varnish. Second, I gave it 3 coats of paint, waited for it to dry very well and gave it a quick sand to get a smooth surface. Finally, I sanded the areas I wanted it to look distressed, in this case, the edges and on top of the intricate designs. I did all this in one day. I had already painted the drawers the day before, but I think it's possible to paint it one day. Because the paint I used (details below) dries very fast. Here is the before and after picture:<br />

When we first moved here, I was crazy in love with Asian stuff (I still am, but more subdued) so the decoration was Asian, with reds and cream, I even had a little lantern and a frame with a porcelain Geisha inside. Then, I got tired of the dark colors, and decided to paint my room a neon pink (to be exact, Tutti Frutti was the color of the paint), don't even ask me what inspired me to paint it that way because I don't even know myself. Approaching my senior year my interests changed to vintage, Victorian, indie, boho things and I wanted something more grown up that would suit my new interests and age. Thus come this new redecoration. First thing I made for my new decoration was a painted reproduction of an ad for Biscuits Brun (the biscuits from Grenoble, France from 1920) on my art class. Here is an image of the original ad (first) and an image of the one I painted (second):<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Original Ad</td></tr>
</tbody></table><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5Zm-RMVzrcbI5U4fa2OIz3_oiSbUnSM8qjZYAefWXpZedL5pZPGJmJf-JFFSjqmqix4TGWqjX_62FgLknhKyWGTvYYZ6tt8OETSU4Z9CW1Ftf-aonrgdFOBQhQ49BFi03O2A8aUd5IW8/s1600/BiscuitsBrun.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5Zm-RMVzrcbI5U4fa2OIz3_oiSbUnSM8qjZYAefWXpZedL5pZPGJmJf-JFFSjqmqix4TGWqjX_62FgLknhKyWGTvYYZ6tt8OETSU4Z9CW1Ftf-aonrgdFOBQhQ49BFi03O2A8aUd5IW8/s320/BiscuitsBrun.jpg" width="209" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">One I painted</td></tr>
</tbody></table>I still have a lot to do on my room, I'm far from finished, but I wanted to show you guys the progress so far. First thing I did was get rid of that awful neon pink color; I did that with ivory paint. When I was searching for ideas on the internet I saw a lot of vintage/Victorian wallpapers and I wanted to have some designs on my wall, I didn't wanted it to just be a plain color, so I weight my options. I wasn't going to spend on wallpaper, because first I haven't got the money, second I wasn't going to cover my walls with wallpaper, and third I don't know how to work with wallpaper. So the other option I had was to either have my walls a plain color or either paint them by hand. I'm very persnickety, so of course I choose to paint it by hand, did I know it was going to be a lot of work? not so much. But I wanted to do it. I was going to do it. So, I embarked on a task to paint my walls like a Victorian wallpaper. Since the day I made the decision to today, I have only painted half of 2 walls but, I haven't given up. Now I know it's hard work, but in the end I know it's going to be worth it. Without further ado, this is how it looks so far:<br />

</div>I love to read and because of that I have a lot of books. Previously I had a small bookcase of three shelves I got from Home Depot or Wal-mart (I don't remember), and that thing was splintered and weaken with all the weight of my books. I needed a bigger and sturdier bookcase and last year the opportunity arose. As you are all aware of, last year Borders closed its doors (a sad and heartbreaking thing it was) and they were selling everything even the furniture (this is where my new bookcase comes in the story). I ended up buying one 8ft bookcase for $50 and two extra shelves for $6 each. I painted it white and distressed it a bit to give it an antique look. I also made my dad, the handyman in our house, mount it on my wall with some pretty strong screws and wood planks, because I didn't wanted to have to move it to clean the floor and the back of it. That was one of the things that ruined my other bookcase; it splintered from moving it so much. Here is a picture of my new bookcase. I didn't take a before picture, but here is the finished product:<br />

</div>I still miss Borders, it was the only place where I bought books here on PR. It was the only library worth visiting. But, at least I still got something to remember it by. :')<br />
<br />
Recently they announced that a group of inversionists called Washington Group International bought Borders in Puerto Rico and this year they plan too open three stores, called now Borders Puerto Rico, in Las Catalinas Mall (situated in Caguas), another in Plaza Carolina (situated in Carolina), and the third in The Premium Outlets of Barceloneta. I hope they maintain the same plan of the original Borders. So, I'm excited about that. I'm even keeping an eye out for job applications. :D<br />

Today, I received my YesStyle purchase! It shipped in 4-5 days. YesStyle.com is a store that sells Asian clothes, beauty, accessories, jewelry, shoes, and bags for very good prices. They also have a store located in San Francisco, California. Ordering from the online store is completely safe. This is my second purchase from them, and I have nothing negative to say about their service. The products ship very fast and in great conditions. I don't know if everyone receives their packages from DHL, but all the times I have ordered from YS they are the ones to deliver my package. So, there is no problem of the mailer jamming the package in my small mailbox and damaging the products. All their products come inside a white rectangular box and the shoes come in a gray pull-string bag.<br />
<br />
YesStyle is currently having their annual sale with up to 80% off (ends on Jan 30, 2012) Only selected items are on sale; there are some pretty good things. The only thing that I find kind of difficult is determining my clothing and shoe size, because it sells Asian clothes the sizes run a little smaller. Well, in my case it's the shoes that run a little small, so far. The first item I purchased from them were a pair of some converse like shoes with cute drawings (mine had piggies on the side), because it was my first time buying shoes online I used my original Converse Chuck Taylor All-stars high-top shoes to determine the size; I'm size 7 US, so according to my Converse shoe box that is size 38 in Europe (the majority of the shoe available come in Europe size). That time I ended up buying the sneaker 38 Europe, but when I got to try it on it fit too exact, I could feel my big toe pressed against the front of the shoe. I didn't end up returning them even though they accept returns because of size, defects, exchange or because you just don't want it. I used the shoes until my feet grow a cm or so, I don't know it just became uncomfortable to wear. Because of that, this time I ended up buying one size bigger (39 Europe) and it was just right. I bought this Nongli deck shoes in pink for $22.40 (they were on sale), they are very comfortable and are not slippery because the outsole is made of rubber. And they are cute too! ;)<br />

<br />
Clothing so far, I think is the more difficult in terms of size and fit. They sell a lot of one size clothing, because it doesn't really give us a clue how big a one size is they always have the product measurements in the product information. They also provide material & care information and a couple of photos with details of the product you're buying. One time I bought a bear hoodie sweater on eBay, I think it was also one size. I somewhat measured a sweater I had and I bought it thinking it would fit me. But, when I tried it on there were several things wrong with it: the arms where too short for me and the neck hole was also a bit small. It was kind of a hassle taking off the sweater because it didn't have a zipper and it was pull on. So, this time I bought clothing from Asia I avoided three things: long sleeves, tight tops, and small neck holes. I got this 59 Seconds floral top for $8.80 (also on sale), it was a little bit large for me, but right now I'm liking oversize tops, so it worked for me. Again it wasn't too large, nothing a belt couldn't fix. Just see for yourselves:<br />

The other day I was watching tutorial videos on YouTube and I saw this video with the title "How a Girl Should Put a Man's Shirt", I clicked on it and was left fascinated. I have always found beautiful how a woman could turn man's clothing into something cute and chic. I want to buy a boy's t-shirt and wear it as a dress, and now that I've seen this I also want to buy a man's shirt to try all this beautiful looks. If I had a boyfriend, of course I would ask him to lend me one of his. ;) Sure there are countless of tutorials for wearing man's shirt but most of them require to cut and sew. Anyway, I thought I would share this with you girls so you can also try this looks. I'm posting the video below, but I also decided to take some screenshots of the steps and final looks in case they delete the video from YouTube, because so many times I have discovered so many amazing videos and when I go searching for them again I find that they have been deleted or the user has erased the account. <u>By taking the screenshots I am in no way taking credit for it; all credit goes to the person who uploaded the video.</u> Here is the video:<br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">This cute little baby stars are super easy to make and they make great decoration. It's a great way to recycle used paper. I find that magazine paper is more sturdy than regular white paper. Stars made out of magazine paper end up being more colorful than a regular one plain colored paper. They look more interesting made with written paper or like I said magazine paper. It's very important that the paper you use is not to tough because it might break when you pull it to form the star. So, without further ado here is the tutorial part: </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">And that's it. Easy right! At first it may be a little difficult to achieve a proportioned star. I had to do it like 3 times before I could get it right. Practice makes perfect. After you make one, you will want to be making more and more. They are fun too make. You can make them any size you want, just play with it. If you want a bigger star, the strip needs to be wider and longer. You can write a wish on each star and place them in a jar. It makes a cute decoration item for your room. Simple and cute. Here is a picture of my wishing jar:</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I even made a ribbon star (the white star on the left), it's basically the same steps the only difference is that you need to sew (pulling inwards) between the points of the pentagon so that it forms a star, otherwise it will be a pentagon. You can also fill it a little bit with plush fluff before you tuck the end into the inside flap (step 7). And I also sew all around the star so it will maintain it's shape. For this star I used a white satin ribbon I had laying around.</div>Tatianahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/11248442836289136141noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1030485021313860573.post-35889936660934032722011-10-27T19:44:00.002-04:002017-09-15T18:16:22.613-04:00Kigurumi Pajamas: What's that?<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Kigurumi is the Japanese name for performers who wear a costume that represent a cartoon character, often animals. The kirugumi pajamas are a simple version of this costumes, they are made of a thin fabric and it literally covers your entire body except your face. Each one has a hood or cap that serves as the animals face but it does not cover the wearers face. This does not function as a performance costume; it is only Japanese street fashion. There are so cute and they look so comfy, but I won't be buying one anytime soon. Because firstly no one where I live wears them (I know no one has no originality and fashion is very boring over here) and secondly if I ever buy one I would use it literally as a pajama, but I would probably die of a heat stroke. In Puerto Rico there is no such thing as a cold christmas weather. I would really love to live in Japan because you can wear whatever you like and no one would judge you, they make life more fun even though they spend a lot of time studying. Here are some examples of a kigurumi pajama:<br />

(so it says on wikipedia.com ;P) When I hear of songs like this I think of a breeze of fresh air, riding your car through a green field with the windows rolled down and the wind in your hair, riding a bike through a neighborhood, watching drops of rain hit a glass window, sitting under a tree while hearing the birds singing, laughing out loud, flying a kite with your love ones, taking a walk in the morning with your hands in your pockets, reading in a cafe, etc. Just really cute quirky songs that makes you forget the bad things <3!</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="background-color: white; font-family: sans-serif; font-size: 13px; line-height: 19px;"><br />

I received them very quickly, about a week after. They came in a little rectangular box. The case was a little big than normal because of the size of the glasses; nerd size ;). But it has kind of a plushy soft texture, I kind of like. The eyeglasses are absolutely comfortable and cute. They are of good quality. So far I haven't gotten any problem whatsoever with them. I love them. The Warby Parker people were very friendly. The price of every frame, including anti-reflective prescription lenses, is $95. They also sell the frames with non-prescription lenses. All of their eye wear are vintage inspired. And, also a plus from them, is that when you buy a pair of their eyeglasses they donate one to someone in need. So you get a beautiful pair of eyeglasses for a very reasonable price and you also give back. So that's very good! The only thing I have trouble with was choosing which one I wanted, because they are so many cute and similar ones. I really recommend them. And there's no doubt that my next eyeglasses will be from them.</div><br />
